Ads & AI analysis
Analyze your ads
Once your ads are uploaded, adfit analyzes each file with AI: it extracts who the ad targets, what it promises and how it speaks, and suggests personalizations for your site. This guide covers starting an analysis, reading the results, re-analyzing, retrying failures, and the limits that apply.
Before you start
The analysis matches your ads against your actual website, so adfit needs to have seen your site first. adfit now asks you to connect your site before you upload ads at all: once your snippet is installed and adfit has found at least one page, both uploading and analysis unlock. Until then, the Ads section shows a note and the analyze buttons stay disabled.
- Install the snippet on your site.
- Verify your connection: once the site is Connected and adfit has seen a page, analysis unlocks on its own.
Start an analysis
In the Ads section, every uploaded ad has an Analyze button in its row. To analyze everything at once, use Analyze all in the header of the ads list: it covers every ad that hasn't been analyzed yet, including failed ones.
Both buttons open the same short dialog, Pick the pages adfit should personalize for this ad. You choose the target pages there, not at upload time, so you can upload first and decide later. When you start several ads at once, the dialog says so plainly: This applies to all {n} ads. Your checkout, cart, account, login, and legal pages stay out of reach: they appear disabled with the reason next to them.
The dialog also tells you what the run costs before you start it, in plain numbers: This uses {n} AI tasks. One AI task per ad, and target pages cost nothing here. If this is the first analysis of your site, a second line adds Plus 1 for the first analysis of your site. And if the run does not fit into what is left, adfit says how much is left before you confirm: You have {n} AI tasks available right now.
If you pick more than one page, adfit tells you what happens next: Only the first page is personalized now. Copying to the other pages costs 1 AI task per page. That second step is yours to take whenever you like: see Copy to other pages.
While analyses run, a status bar above the list shows the progress (for example “Analyzing 2 files, 3 queued”). Analyses run a few at a time; the rest wait as Queued and start automatically. Most files finish within a minute or two, and the page updates on its own: no reload needed.
This same status bar is shared by every AI task in adfit, not just analyses. When a task finishes it tells you what it found, with a link straight to the result; several finishing together collapse into {n} tasks finished. with a link to the details.
Each ad moves through these statuses:
- Uploaded: the file is stored and ready. It's your move: start the analysis whenever you like.
- Queued: the analysis is requested and waiting its turn.
- Analyzing: the AI is reading the file right now.
- Analyzed: the results are ready. Open View analysis or click the file name to see them.
- Failed: something went wrong. See Failed analyses below.
What the analysis contains
Open an analyzed ad to see its results. For each ad, adfit shows a Summary card and a set of suggested personalizations:
- Summary: what the ad is about, in one short paragraph.
- Audience: who the ad targets.
- Promise: the core benefit or claim the ad makes.
- Tone: how the ad speaks (for example playful, urgent or professional).
- Persona traits: characteristics of the person the ad is written for.
- Suggested personalizations: concrete ideas for your site. Each one names the audience segment it speaks to, the hook it leads with, and suggested text changes for your pages, with a short rationale.
The results are written in your site's language, so they read naturally next to your own content. The field labels stay in English.
Turn a suggestion into a personalization
Every suggested personalization has a Create personalization button. Press it and adfit creates a draft you can review and publish: see Create one from a suggestion.
See what an ad led to
Once you create personalizations from an ad, its row in the ads list shows them, so an analyzed ad is never a dead end. Under the file details you will see the linked persona and a chip for each personalization created from that ad. Click a chip to open that personalization; if there are several, adfit shows the first couple and a +{n} more count for the rest.
The persona appears as Persona: {name}. If the ad is linked to more than one persona, adfit shows the number of personas instead of a name. An ad with no personalizations yet shows no extra line: create one from a suggestion to get started (see Create one from a suggestion). From the ads list you can also open any of them straight from Landing pages once they are live.
Link an ad to a persona you already have
When adfit analyzes an ad, it also suggests a persona for it. If you would rather use a persona you have already built, you can link the ad to it instead. This is a relabel, not a new analysis: adfit reuses the persona you pick, so it costs nothing and uses no AI.
Create a personalization first
The link applies to a personalization, so create one from a suggestion first (see Create one from a suggestion). Until then, Link to existing persona stays disabled with the hint Create a personalization first.
Link to an existing persona
On the ad's Summary card, press Link to existing persona and choose one of your personas. adfit uses that persona instead of the one it suggested, and shows Linked to the persona you picked.
adfit's own suggestion is not lost: it moves under adfit's suggested persona, where you can expand it any time. Press Switch back to return to it. To build a persona first, see Personas.
One file, several ads
A single file can contain more than one ad. This is common with CSV or XLSX exports from your ads platform (for example a Google Ads export with several ad groups). adfit detects the individual ads and analyzes each one separately: the detail page then shows one section per ad (“Ad 1 of 3”, and so on), each with its own summary and suggestions.
Variants of the same message (for example three headlines for one campaign) are treated as one ad, not three.
Up to 12 ads per file
One file can hold up to 12 ads. If a file contains more, adfit stops before it starts and tells you: This file contains more than 12 ads. Split it into files with up to 12 ads each, then upload them again. Nothing is analyzed in that case, so the run costs you no AI task.
When adfit could not read every ad in the file
Occasionally adfit reads a multi-ad file but comes back with fewer ads than the file actually holds. When that happens, adfit says so plainly: adfit analyzed {x} of {y} ads in this file. Upload the missing ad again as its own file to analyze it. The run still counts as just 1 AI task.
Re-analyze an ad
If an analysis isn't quite right, you can run it again. On an analyzed ad, press Re-analyze. One dialog asks for both things at once: a short note, What should adfit focus on this time?, so adfit knows what to change, and the pages it should personalize. The note is required: the button stays disabled until you add one.
Your note guides this run only. adfit does not store it, and the new analysis replaces the previous one. The very first analysis of an ad doesn't ask for a note, since there is nothing yet to build on.
Like the first run, a re-analysis uses one analysis from your monthly quota, with one exception: a run that comes back with nothing usually costs you nothing. See When a run comes back with nothing.
When an upload isn't an ad
adfit works best with the creatives and copy you actually run. If a file you upload isn't a usable ad for your site, adfit tells you plainly instead of inventing a result. On the ad you will see This image doesn't look like an ad for your site with a short explanation: Upload the ad your visitors clicked to reach this page. adfit personalizes your page to match that ad.
From there, press Back to ads to upload the right file, or Re-analyze if you think adfit got it wrong. No personalization is created from a file adfit can't use as an ad.
A rejected file usually does not use up an analysis. When a run was free, the ad says so itself with This did not use an AI task. The same limits as for any other empty run apply, so a file that keeps coming back rejected counts again from run number 3: see When a run comes back with nothing.
Failed analyses
If an analysis fails, the ad shows a Failed badge and the reason where adfit knows one. Use Retry analysis in the row or on the detail page to run it again; temporary hiccups usually succeed on the second attempt.
If a re-analysis fails, nothing is lost: the previous intact result stays visible below the error message until a new analysis replaces it.
Your monthly analysis quota
Every site has a monthly quota of AI analyses, depending on your plan. The header of the ads list shows a live counter (for example 8 of 50 analyses this month).
What counts toward the quota
- Every ad analysis you start, including re-analyses of the same ad. One ad, one analysis: the target pages you pick in the dialog cost nothing on top.
- Site analyses you start, including the first one that runs automatically with your first ad analysis: see Site analysis.
- Every page you copy a personalization to: one page, one AI task. See Copy to other pages.
What does not count
- The weekly automatic site re-analysis. adfit starts it, so adfit pays for it.
- An analysis that fails before the AI could process your file, and a file with more than 12 ads, which stops before the first AI call.
- A file adfit cannot use as an ad for your site. You get the honest answer and keep your analysis: see When an upload isn't an ad.
- A run that comes back with nothing, within the limits below.
When a run comes back with nothing
Sometimes adfit runs, reads everything and still has nothing worth suggesting. That is a result, not a failure, and you should not pay for it: such a run does not count toward your monthly quota.
It is not unlimited, though, and adfit tells you before it changes. If the same ad or the same page keeps coming back empty, run number 3 counts again, and you see the warning up front: This page has not produced changes in the last {n} runs. The next run will count against your AI tasks. A site also has a monthly allowance of these free runs; once it is used up, further empty runs count like any other.
When the quota is reached
The quota resets at the start of each calendar month. When a site has used its quota, the analyze buttons pause until then; uploading is not affected. If you started Analyze all with more ads than the remaining quota allows, adfit analyzes as many as still fit (oldest first) and tells you how many were skipped.
On Starter, upgrading to Growth raises the quota from 30 to 50 analyses per site each month: see Plans & pricing.
The daily AI budget
On top of the monthly quota, a daily safety limit caps the total amount of AI work per account and day. It exists to protect you from runaway costs and is generous enough that normal use never touches it. If your analyses do reach it, they stop with the message “Daily AI budget reached. Analyses continue tomorrow.”
Nothing is lost: the affected ads simply show Failed with that message, and you can retry them the next day.
