Page elements
Every page adfit has read has an elements view: the list of things adfit can change on it, straight from what adfit last saw. Open it to check what adfit can work with before you build a personalization, or to start one right from the page.
Open a page
Go to Pages & elements in a site's left sidebar and click a page's address in the list. adfit opens the elements view for that page. Use Back to pages at the top to return to the list, or the page switcher in the top right to jump straight to another page adfit has read.
Only pages adfit has already read can be opened here. If a page has not been read yet, see When adfit has not read a page below.
What the list shows
The Elements card lists what adfit can change on this page. There is no screenshot and no live copy of your page here: adfit reads a page as structured text, so the elements view is a clean table of that text, not a picture.
Each row shows:
- The text adfit found in that element. An element with no text of its own (for example an image or an icon button) shows (no visible text).
- A role badge, adfit's best read of what the element is (for example a headline, a paragraph or a call to action).
- A short signal line with how prominent the element is (High, Medium or Low prominence) and whether it is Interactive, which means a visitor can click it, like a button or a link.

The list is not limited to plain text. Buttons, links and other clickable elements appear too, so you can change a call to action just as easily as a headline.
See the technical selector
Each row has a Technical details toggle. Open it to see the exact selector adfit uses to find that element on your page. You never have to touch this: it is there so you can confirm you are looking at the right element.
Find an element fast
Use the Filter elements box above the list to narrow it down by text or role. If nothing matches, adfit shows No elements match your filter. Clear the box to see everything again. If adfit read the page but found nothing it can edit, the card says adfit did not find any editable elements on this page.
Source and freshness
Under the page address, a short line tells you where this view comes from and how fresh it is:
- Captured by snippet: someone opened this page with your snippet installed, so adfit saw it exactly as a visitor does. This is the closest match to your live page.
- Fetched by adfit: adfit read the page itself. adfit adds a note that a page captured by your snippet is closer to what visitors see.
- May be out of date: adfit shows this when the version it has might not match your current page. The line below it, Last read with a date and the number of elements, tells you when adfit last read the page. Open the page again with the snippet installed to refresh it.
A note on older snapshots
When the snapshot was captured by your snippet but is more than 7 days old, adfit adds a plain note below the meta line: This snapshot is more than 7 days old. It updates the next time someone visits the page. Nothing to do here either: the next real visit refreshes it.
When adfit has not read a page
If you open a page adfit has not read yet, the elements view shows adfit has not read this page yet instead of a list, with a short reason and, in most cases, a link to fix it. What you see depends on why the page is not readable:
- The page builds its content in the browser, so adfit needs a real visit with the snippet installed to read it. The link takes you to the snippet.
- adfit could not open the page, or knows the page but has not read it yet. The link takes you back to Pages, where you can add or capture it. See Pages.
- The page is one adfit leaves alone (a legal page, or a page whose address looks like checkout, cart, account, or login). adfit says adfit does not read this page. with nothing to do.
The address and page switcher stay at the top even in this state, so you can move straight to a page adfit can read.
Ask adfit for ideas
On a page adfit has read, the Elements card has an Ask adfit for ideas button. It lets adfit suggest changes for the page without a persona, so you get a starting draft you can shape and assign a persona to later. The full walkthrough, including how many AI tasks it uses, is in Suggest with AI.
Picking elements while you edit
The same element list powers the picker inside the editor. When you add a change to a personalization, you pick from these elements rather than typing a selector by hand. See Edit a personalization.
