Personalization

Personalizations

A personalization is a set of changes adfit makes to one of your pages when a matching visitor arrives, for example a headline or a call to action that speaks to the ad they clicked. This guide covers where personalizations come from, how to review and publish them, and how to keep them in step when your page changes.

Where personalizations come from

Every personalization starts as a Draft. There are two ways to create one:

  • From a persona: on the Personas page, press Generate personalization on a persona.
  • From an ad angle: on an analyzed ad, apply one of adfit's suggested angles (see below).

Both land in Personalizations in the site sidebar (in the Audience group), where you review and publish them.

Apply an ad angle

When adfit analyzes an ad, it suggests personalization angles: concrete ideas for your page, each with an audience, a hook and suggested changes. You can turn any angle into a personalization.

  1. Open an analyzed ad

Go to Ads, open an analyzed ad and scroll to Suggested angles.

  2. Select the angles you want

Tick the checkbox on each angle you want to use. An Apply bar appears showing how many are selected.

  3. Apply

Press Apply. adfit creates a draft personalization for each selected angle and marks the angle as Applied.

To rework an angle, use Regenerate from this angle on the angle. adfit writes a fresh draft; if you had already published the one you applied, adfit adds a new draft instead of overwriting your live page.

Some angles have nothing to apply

If an angle did not include any changes adfit could safely make, it shows a short note instead of an Apply option. That is a result, not an error.

Draft and published

Every personalization is in one of two states, shown as a badge:

  • Draft: created and ready to review, but not live. Visitors still see your original page.
  • Published: live. Visitors who match its targeting see the personalized version.

The counter at the top of the list shows how many you have published against your plan's limit (for example 3 of 5 published).

Review a personalization

Click a personalization to open it. The header shows its title, its Draft or Published status, where it came from, the page it applies to, and an Updated date so you can see when it last changed. Below that you will find:

  • Changes: each change adfit applied, with the original text and the new version side by side. Image swaps are marked with an Image swap label.
  • Targeting: who sees this personalization. It includes a Test link you can open to preview the personalized page yourself, the adfit token that triggers it, an optional utm_campaign match, and the page path it applies to.
  • Persona: the persona this personalization is for. You can reassign it here.

Changes adfit did not apply

adfit only makes changes it can apply safely, so the count next to Changes is what actually goes live. If adfit left anything out, a Not applied section appears under the changes with a short, plain reason for each one, for example:

  • adfit could not safely identify the element on your page.
  • The new text was too long for that element.
  • An image did not fit the shape of the original image.
  • An image is no longer available, or image swapping is not part of your current plan.

Your other changes still apply

A change adfit leaves out never affects the rest. adfit applies every change it safely can and skips only the ones it cannot, so a matching visitor still sees everything that did go live.

Publish and unpublish

You can publish or unpublish from two places: open a personalization and use the Publish or Unpublish button in its header, or open the actions menu at the end of its row in the list. Each action asks you to confirm first.

Once published, visitors who match its targeting see the personalized version of your page. Unpublish takes it back down: visitors see your original page again, and you can publish it back at any time.

Publish or unpublish several at once

Tick the checkboxes next to the personalizations you want in the list. A selection bar appears with Publish, Unpublish and Delete: choose one to apply it to everything you selected. The checkbox in the table header selects every row at once.

Unpublish waits when a draft already exists

adfit will not unpublish a personalization while a draft already exists for the same persona and the same page, because that would leave two versions of the same page and audience with neither one live. Publish that draft, which takes over as the live version, or delete it first, then unpublish.

Your publish limit

Each plan sets how many personalizations you can have published per site at once. On Starter you can publish up to 5 per site; Growth and Agency are unlimited. Drafts never count toward the limit, so you can prepare as many as you like and publish the best ones. If you reach the limit, unpublish one or upgrade your plan: see Plans & pricing.

Regenerate a personalization

To have adfit write a fresh version, open a personalization with a persona assigned and press Regenerate, then confirm. If the personalization is still a draft, the new version replaces it. If it is already published, adfit creates a new draft next to it and your live page stays untouched until you publish the new one.

Regenerate changes the wording, not the tone

Regenerating is the way to get different suggestions. To change how many elements adfit touches, adjust your personalization depth; to steer the wording, update your AI briefing first.

When your page changes

A personalization remembers the original text it replaces. If you later edit that text on your site, adfit flags the personalization with an Original changed badge and a note on its detail page, so a change can never quietly go stale.

Review the changes against your current page. If the new text is correct, press Update baseline: adfit takes the current text on your page as the new original for this personalization, and the flag clears.

Delete a personalization

Open the menu at the end of a row (or on the detail page) and choose Delete, then confirm. This permanently removes it, including any published version, and cannot be undone. To remove several at once, select them in the list and use Delete in the selection bar.
