Personalization
Personas
A persona is a short description of one kind of visitor: who they are, what they care about and how you want to speak to them. adfit uses a persona to generate a personalization tailored to that visitor. This guide covers creating personas, adopting the ones adfit suggests from your ads, and generating a personalization from a persona.
Find your personas
Open one of your sites and choose Personas in the site sidebar (in the Audience group). The page has three parts: your own personas, personas Suggested by adfit from your ad analyses, and segments From your personalizations that you can turn into personas.
Create a persona
Press New persona to open the form. Only a name is required; everything else is optional, but the more you fill in, the more focused the personalization adfit writes.
- Name: a short label for this visitor (for example “Busy parents”).
- Description: who they are and what they care about.
- Pain point: the problem they want solved.
- Audience: the segment this persona belongs to.
- Tone: how you want to speak to them (for example warm and reassuring).
- Traits: up to 10 short keywords that characterize this visitor. Type a trait and press Enter to add it.
Press Create persona to save. You can edit or delete a persona at any time from the menu on its card.
Adopt a persona adfit suggested
When you analyze an ad, adfit describes the kind of person it targets. Those descriptions appear under Suggested by adfit with an AI suggested badge and the name of the ad file they came from. Press Add on a suggestion to turn it into one of your personas, ready to edit and generate from.
Start from your ads
Suggestions only appear once you have analyzed at least one ad. If the list is empty, upload and analyze an ad first: see Analyze your ads.
Turn a segment into a persona
When you apply an ad angle, adfit records the audience segment it spoke to. Those segment names appear under From your personalizations. Press Convert next to a segment to turn it into a full persona you can edit and reuse. Learn more about applying angles in Personalizations.
Generate a personalization from a persona
Each persona card has a Generate personalization button. adfit reads your site, compares it against the persona and writes a set of on-page changes as a draft. To generate for several personas at once, tick their checkboxes and use Generate for {n} selected (up to 10 personas at a time).
Pick a persona
Choose the persona you want to reach, or select several with their checkboxes.
Generate
Press Generate personalization. adfit works in the background; a status bar shows the progress and the page updates on its own when the draft is ready.
Review and publish
The new draft appears in Personalizations. Review the changes there and publish it when you are happy.
Before you can generate
adfit needs to know your site first, so generation unlocks once:
- your snippet is installed and connected, and
- adfit has run a site analysis.
Generating counts toward your monthly AI limit for the site, just like an ad analysis: see your monthly analysis quota.
Depth and tone are set elsewhere
How many elements adfit changes is set by your personalization depth. The wording follows the brand voice adfit learned from your site; to steer it, use the AI briefing.
When adfit finds nothing to change
Sometimes a generation finishes without any changes. This is a normal result, not an error: adfit never rewrites checkout, cart or legal pages, and it only changes content it can safely match. The persona shows a short note explaining it; trying again gives the same result.
How many personas you can have
Each site can hold up to 50 personas. The counter at the top of the Your personas card shows how many you have used. If you reach the limit, delete a persona you no longer need to make room for a new one.
