Copy to other pages

A personalization applies to one page. When you want the same idea on more pages of the same site, adfit can write a version of it for each of them. Every page becomes its own draft that you review and publish yourself, and every page uses one AI task.

What copying does

You pick a personalization as the source and choose the pages you want it on. adfit reads each of those pages, writes changes that fit that page, and puts the result next to your other personalizations as a Draft. Nothing goes live on its own: you review each draft and publish the ones you want.

  • One draft per target page, named for that page.
  • Each draft has its own changes, written for the content of that page. It is not a copy of the same text.
  • The source personalization stays exactly as it is, published or not.

The word campaign

adfit keeps a personalization and every page version made from it together as one campaign. You will see that word in a few of the messages on this page: it always means this group, not your ad campaign.

Before you start

  • The target pages have to be known to adfit. Only pages from the site's Pages list can be picked. If the list is empty, the sheet says adfit has no other pages to copy to yet. Discover pages first. and offers a link there.
  • Copying is part of the paid plans. Without an active subscription the confirm button stays off with a short reason. See Plans & pricing.
  • Review your source first if you are unsure. You can copy from a draft you have not reviewed yet, and adfit tells you so before you confirm. Every target page still costs an AI task, so a quick look at the source pays off.

Copy a personalization

  1. Open the personalization

    Go to Personalizations in the site sidebar and open the one you want to start from. You can also choose Copy to other pages straight from the actions menu at the end of its row.

  2. Choose Copy to other pages

    A panel opens on the right and lists the pages of this site. Pages that cannot be used are listed too, greyed out, with the reason next to them.

  3. Pick your pages

    Tick the pages you want. Select all takes as many as one run allows, and the counter next to it shows how many you have selected.

  4. Confirm

    The button names what will happen, for example Copy to 6 pages. adfit starts right away and tells you how many pages it took on.

Up to 20 pages per run

One run covers up to 20 pages. If your site has more, the panel says You can copy to 20 pages at a time. Pages above that stay selectable in the next run, so you work through a large site in batches.

Set the depth per page

Every page you tick gets a depth selector: Cautious, Balanced or Bold. It starts on the depth set for the site, and you can change it for a single page, or for everything you selected at once with Set depth for all.

Depth sets how many elements adfit changes per page. It does not change your tone of voice: for that, use your AI briefing. The full explanation is in Personalization depth.

What a run costs

Each target page uses one AI task from the site's monthly quota, the same quota your ad and site analyses use. The panel shows both numbers before you confirm, for example This uses 6 AI tasks. 12 of 50 AI tasks used this month. See your monthly analysis quota for how the quota works and when it resets.

Pages adfit skips

Almost every skipped page costs you nothing: adfit checks the reasons before it starts writing, so a protected page, a page that already has a version, a page it has not read yet, or a site that has not been analyzed yet is set aside without using a task. When that is true for the whole run, the result card says Skipped pages did not use an AI task.

When a page comes back with nothing

Sometimes adfit runs on a page and finds nothing it could safely change. The page is then listed as skipped with adfit did not suggest any changes for this page. A run like that does not count toward your monthly quota. It is not unlimited: if the same page keeps coming back empty, run number 3 counts again, and a site has a monthly allowance of these free runs. See When a run comes back with nothing.

Why your quota moves before anything is written

While adfit prepares your pages, it reserves one task per page. That is why the counter drops as soon as you confirm, before any draft exists. The panel and the result card both say so, for example 6 AI tasks from your monthly quota are reserved while adfit prepares these pages.

A run also occupies one of your account's parallel slots for as long as it prepares, so adfit can work on one task fewer at the same time. Both notes appear before you confirm, not only afterwards.

While adfit prepares your pages

adfit reads every target page before it writes anything. During that phase the card on the personalization reads adfit is reading your pages first. This can take a few minutes. Your pages are copied as soon as it is done. The heading counts along, for example Copy to other pages: preparing 5 of 12 pages.

You can close the tab and come back: the run continues, and the card is there when you return. To stop it, choose Cancel in the card header.

The results card

When the preparing phase is over, the card lists every target page with its own state:

  • Queued and Working: adfit has not finished this page yet. You can cancel a page that is still queued.
  • Ready to review: the draft is written. Review draft opens it.
  • Skipped: adfit did not write a draft for this page, and the row says why and what you can do. See Why a page was skipped.
  • Failed: something went wrong on that page. Use Try again on the row to copy to it again.
  • Canceled: you stopped this page before adfit got to it.

Every finished page also says which version of your page adfit worked from: Based on a page read on {date}. It is there so you can tell at a glance whether a draft was written from a current read or from an older one. It is a hint, not a limit: adfit does not stop because of it. If your page has changed since, the personalization itself tells you with Original changed; see When your page changes.

The card stays until every page has been dealt with. Once you have read the skipped and failed rows, Dismiss closes it. It deletes nothing: your drafts stay in the list either way.

Why a page was skipped

Skipped is a result, not an error. Each row names the reason and, when there is something to do, offers the way there.

  • adfit does not change checkout, cart, account, or login pages. Those pages are always left alone. Nothing to do.
  • adfit does not change legal pages. Imprint, privacy policy, terms and the like are never collected or changed. Nothing to do.
  • adfit needs a site analysis first. Start it on the ads page. The site has not been analyzed yet, so adfit has no target list to work from. Start an analysis from Analyze your ads, then copy to the page again.
  • You told adfit not to collect this page. Turn collecting back on in Pages, then copy to it again.
  • This page already has a draft or a published version in this campaign. Open that version from the row and edit or publish it instead of making a second one.
  • Another campaign for this persona already has a draft for this page. The row links you to that campaign. Review its draft, or discard it first, then copy to the page again.
  • This site has reached its limit of 100 drafts. Publish or discard a draft, then try again.
  • This site reached its monthly AI limit. The quota resets at the start of next month. On the smaller plans, a larger plan raises it, and the row links to View plans.
  • Your plan's publish limit is reached. The row names the number your plan allows. Unpublish a personalization, or move to a plan without that limit.
  • adfit has not read this page yet. Open it once with the snippet installed, or add it again in Pages, then copy to it.
  • This page is built with JavaScript. Open it once with the snippet installed so adfit can read it. The row has an Open page button for that.
  • This page redirects somewhere else. The address you copied to sends visitors to a different page, so there is nothing to personalize under it. Check the address in Pages, then copy to it again.
  • adfit could not open this page. The page did not answer, or answered with an error. Check the address, then add it again in Pages.
  • Too many requests went to your site just now. adfit slows itself down so it never floods your server. There is nothing to fix: try again in a few minutes. This row has no button for that reason.
  • adfit could not prepare this page in time. Copy to it again, on its own if it keeps failing.
  • adfit did not suggest any changes for this page. There was nothing on the page adfit could safely change for this audience. This is the one skip where adfit actually ran, so it is the one that can count toward your quota: see Pages adfit skips.

A skipped page never affects the others

adfit works through the pages one by one. A page that is skipped or fails has no effect on the drafts that did get written.

Review each page: Keep or Discard

Open a fresh draft from the results card. Its header carries two extra buttons for as long as the decision is open:

  • Keep: keeps the draft. It stays a draft and joins your normal list, ready to be published when you want. Nothing goes live from this button.
  • Discard: deletes the draft. adfit asks you to confirm first, because there is no undo. Your other pages are not touched.

Discarding means paying again later

You can copy the personalization to that page again at any time, and that uses one AI task. The confirmation dialog says so before you discard.

Review the changes the same way you review any other personalization: the original text and the new version sit side by side. See Review a personalization.

Publish the pages you want live

Copied pages are ordinary personalizations from here on: publish them one by one, or select several in the list and publish them together. Your plan's publish limit and the rest of the lifecycle work exactly as described in Personalizations.

Publishing a page version that already had a published version in the same campaign moves the old one to your archive, where you can restore it later: see Earlier versions and restore.

Visitors keep their personalization as they browse

Once a visitor matches a personalization, adfit keeps showing the matching version as that visitor moves through your site, including on the pages you copied it to. Pages you did not copy it to show your original content, and the match is not lost on the way. There is nothing to switch on: see Personalization across pages for exactly how long it lasts.
